Go For No!  – is this a book you’ve read, yet? If not, – oh man, what a mistake!

I thought it was going to be a book about ‘collecting’ the no’s and it is …. but is also SO MUCH more!

What I learned this morning in my 6AM reading from the book will best be described in a diagram — Most people think of success and failure like this,

Success <= <= <=   Me   => => => Failure

when in reality it is like this,

Me => => =>  Failure  => => =>  Success

Quite possibly you don’t quite get it all from the example I’ve given …. but you will — when you read the book and your life will NEVER be the same! I know mine won’t be — I know that this AM while reading was a TURNING POINT in my life and in my future … I want it to be a turning point in your life, too!

The last quarter of the 2008 year is HERE!

Can you believe it?

Well, looking back on your goals that you hopefully set just prior to the start of 2008 …. how are you doing?

I started setting 90 day goals back a few years ago … in addition to my 1 year, 2 year and 5 year goals … it sure has helped me to see where I need to improve.

Less than 90 days left in 2008 … then we will be ringing in a NEW YEAR again -

WOW … time does travel fast!

So, if you haven’t read over your goals for 2008, now would be the time.

If you never set goals for 2008, why not change that today?

90 days from today .. where do you want to be in the following areas?

- Health
- Career / Business
- Wealth
- Spiritual
- Fun / Recreation
- Social / Cultural
- Family

Your areas might be different … these are just some ideas to get you thinking.

If It’s Wealth You Desire

Money can’t buy happiness. Money is the root of all evil. Money doesn’t grow on trees. And on, and on, and still onward the “wacky wisdom” goes…

With all of this unconventional “enlightenment” floating around, is it any wonder that people are just a little confused when it comes to the subject of the almighty dollar?

Some time ago, I had the privilege of listening to David D’Arcangelo, a leading authority on money and wealth strategies. What surprised me about David’s presentation wasn’t his home-based business subject matter, or even his slant towards the rising popularity of Network Marketing—that’s a given. What I found so intriguing, were his opening remarks about, well, money…

According to David, “The three most important things we will ever learn in life are: 1) How to get a job; 2) How to communicate with the opposite sex; and, 3) How to handle our money.”

And then he added this secondary sobering statement:

“For the most part, we learn each of these critical life lessons by trial and error.”

“Imagine,” David boldly told his audience, “If doctors learned how to treat patients by trial and error—we would all be dead!” Now there’s an interesting point to ponder!

What’s going on here? Why are we as a society, so caught up with, and at the same time so downright confused by money, something we supposedly can’t live with, and seemingly can’t live without?

How about you? Do you have all this prosperity stuff figured out, or would we still find your financial house under construction?

Let’s face it, our answers to this question can be a bit unpleasant.

Many years ago, before studying the subject, I believed the best solution to having more money was simply making more money. Today, having refined my thinking process, I now understand that “more” isn’t usually what is needed… What is needed, is a better plan for earning, and then holding on to a portion of all we create.

Jim Rohn, one of Tony Robbins’ mentors, echoed the point: Student, “If I had more money, I would have a better plan.” To which the teacher responded, “I would suggest that if you had a better plan, you would have more money.”

Apparently, it’s not the money that you count first; it’s the plan—because it’s the plan that enables you to count the money. Interesting…

So what about you? Do you have a plan?

My plan was discovered on a dusty old bookshelf, in an almost forgotten thrift store, a long, long time ago. Paid a quarter for it… A little booklet—containing the wisdom of Solomon—entitled, Seven Cures for a Lean Purse, by George S. Clason.

If the question inscribed on the cover, If It’s Wealth You Desire?  wasn’t enough to grab my attention, certainly the words printed on the third page were:

“A message of vital importance to every man and woman with financial ambitions to accomplish and high ideals to uphold.”

Didn’t realize it at the time, but that masterpiece had already become a book by the same author, which to this day continues to be one of the best-selling written works of all time…

The Richest Man In Babylon.

Therefore, if it’s wealth you desire… Acquire The Richest Man In Babylon for your library. Read it. And then apply it in your life. The strategies are as timeless as they are brilliant, and now they’re even printed on recycled paper.

The last few weeks have been a wild ride for a huge portion of the United States. Hurricane Ike not only caused massive destruction in Texas and the Gulf Coast, it reached all the way into the Ohio valley leaving over 2 Million people without power for days. Not to mention, we had the biggest stock market dive since 9/11 leaving millions more wondering if the money in their bank account is safe.

Is there anything we can learn from this as marketers and individuals?

You bet!

Life is good at throwing us curve-balls – especially when it comes to making a change in our life. It takes more energy to make a change than it does to stay the same so it’s easier to get knocked off course by external events or even our own loss of motivation.

They key to making sure you don’t lose your momentum in the face of natural and man-made obstacles is to have a contingency plan.

Motivation experts and top success coaches say that people who have backup plans have a greater chance of reaching their goal than those who don’t. They don’t lose momentum because they have already figured out what they will do if “Plan A” doesn’t work out. 

In fact, the most successful people and companies are those who not only have a “Plan B” but also a “Plan C” and “Plan D.”

The key though isn’t to jump to the next plan without sufficient reason.

Too many people in network marketing move from one system to the next system or from one company to the next without ever giving themselves any real chance at success.

I have met and wroked with many marketers that are proud to tell me they have been in network marketing
for 10, 20 even 30 years. Yet in all that time they have never achieved the success they talk about.

The reality is that working a plan is not the same as trying a plan – or even just thinking about it.

Working a plan means starting from a realistic and achievable path and tracking your actions (alongwith results) with great care using a proven tracking method like we teach on the Free to Relax Team.

Tracking reveals where things are going right and where things are going wrong. It’s this “real data” that allows you then to troubleshoot and retool your plan. This is what I was taught by a past mentor in Leader’s Club and what I share and train about today. Tracking helps marketers plan out an ongoing contingency plan based on their own personal results – not hypothetical results, not results from someone else 2 years ago, not results based on dishonest representation of a single above average marketer.

So what are your contingency plans?

What are you going to do about your business and personal goals when the power goes out or your house gets flooded?

What is your Plan B or Plan C if your ads don’t produce the number of prospects you hoped for or you don’t find any customers?

When it comes to helping Network Marketers make successful plans no other training program comes close to teaching others how to track and why it’s so important for their success. Having a plan, based on REAL DATA means you never need to make excuses or worse, blame others.

A Favorite Business Tool

One of my favorite business tools is this one noted below that allows me to add ‘audio’ to emails, to create ‘talking’ online workshops, record training calls for my partners, and more!

Never did I think it would be so valuable. This tool is one that anyone in Network Marketing should have, anyone who is looking to DUPLICATE, that is! And isn’t duplication the secret to success in MLM?

The System

The System

What is my system? First, let me give you the definition I use for ‘system’ – it’s nothing more than ‘daily operation of business’.

My business is Network Marketing and within my business, success depends on three things;

1) Prospecting = finding people to talk to
2) Presentation = talking to those people I find
3) Duplication = teaching those people I find who decide to join me in business to
do the three things, as well.

Is that not SIMPLE? Each of those three are part of my daily opertation of business. Each are a part of my ’system’. They each should be a part of your ’system’, too if you want HUGE success in your Network Marketing business.

It’s actually so simple, that many don’t accept the simplicity and try to reinvent the wheel with, “If I complicate the steps, surely I will make MORE money!”

WRONG!

It’s the simplicity that makes Network Marketing possible for virtually anyone. Anyone that is that is willing to KEEP IT SIMPLE!

Everything we, as members of The Free To Relax Team teach, relates to one of the three parts of the system I listed above; finding people to talk to, talking to those people and teaching them to find people to talk to and talking to those people.

If you are a Network Marketer and not making the monthly income you want to be earning, more than likely you are lacking in one of the three areas of the system.

- Do you have a method for prospecting? (finding people to talk to)
- Do you have a method for presenting? (talking to those people you find)
- Do you have a method for teaching those who join you to duplicate? (find people and talk to them)

If the income you are earning from your Network Marketing business isn’t the income you are wanting to be earning, then you need to decide which area needs work, then go to work on that area for the next 30 days.

Go to your sponsor or your upline and ask them to answer these questions –
1) What do you suggest I do to find people to talk to?
2) How do you suggest I present the business to those people I find?

If you aren’t satisfied with their replies, continue to ask UNTIL you hear a reply and ((think)), “I CAN DO THAT!”

Then DO IT! And don’t forget to teach those who join you in business to DO IT, too!

Just a few years back, I was struggling with DUPLICATION. I had experienced some success with prior MLM companies I’d ‘tinkered’ with and although I did okay, it certainly wasn’t anything to BRAG about!

I went to my ‘home office library’ and began to search for a title that might offer some help. The Simple Art of Duplication —- hum?? Now, that sounded like JUST what I was looking for but to be honest, thinking back – so many times what I hoped would help (from reading a title) wasn’t usually all that I hoped for. I was WRONG! I sat in my family room listening once, twice, three times then not sure how many more times I played the CD again but I was AMAZED! It was ALL I was looking for and SO MUCH more!

As I sat there playing the CD, taking notes <pause> <rewind> <play again> and taking notes … to not miss a single word or any of the suggested readings, CDs, websites, etc … I thought “who is this MICHAEL CLOUSE?” I’ve never heard of him. Why not? He is good! I like what I’m hearing and even BETTER YET … I CAN DO THIS!

Sitting down at my computer, I typed in the web address I’d written down in my notes –

It was at the point that I began to refer others to the Clouse system of training, his books, audios and getting all of my team subscribed to his newsletters … that I began to experience duplication. My income began to grow monthly – just like I’d read about happening in other’s network marketing careers but questioned if I’d personally ever have the pleasure. I’ve had the pleasure and YOU CAN, TOO!

WHY I Started My Home-Based Network Marketing Business

 

 

Flexibility of my time is WHY I’ve wanted my own business from the time I realized to have things, to go places and to pay for the basics, it required money.

 

When I enrolled in college, at Texas Tech University – I decided to get my degree in teaching. Teaching I thought would be a fair trade of my time for money. My thought was, as a teacher, I’d have Summers “off” plus if you add up all of the school holidays, that’s another month ‘off’ out of the year. Seemed fair enough. Work 8 months, get paid for 12. Not a bad deal … until I had my first child.

 

I didn’t appreciate having a boss who didn’t appreciate me being late when she wanted to nurse a bit longer that morning. I didn’t appreciate having a boss questioning me staying home when she was running a fever. Yes, once I was a mom, I realized quickly that I DID NOT want a boss!

 

My husband and I opened our own business. It was a retail furniture store and we took our daughter to work with us … or if she was ill, I could stay home with her and he could operate business that day alone. Life was good ….

 

A few years passed, business grew and we realized that to take our daughter to Walt Disney World, to go to the Beach for a week, to take a family cruise, to do ANYTHING but open the doors and work, the money stopped so we …… hired employees.

 

Don’t get me wrong. We LOVED our employees but they had families too, and their children had days they were sick. They had mornings that didn’t go as planned, etc and we quickly discovered, business wasn’t all it was cracked up to be with employees! Employees were not the solution to the problem.

 

It wasn’t long that I decided …

 

- I DID NOT want a boss!

- I DID NOT want employees!

 

Research on the Internet led me to the industry I now KNOW was created for me. This is my career.

 

Network Marketing = flexibility

Network Marketing = unlimited income

Network Marketing = working with people you love and enjoy being with – but yet, they aren’t your employees!

Network Marketing = all the things I ever dreamed of and much, much more!
